Queer Bookclub
Join us on May 26th, 2025 for a film screening of Park Chan-Wook’s The Handmaiden (2016) which is an adaptation of Sarah Waters’ “The Fingersmith.” While the original book set in Britain, Park Chan-Wook adapts the story to fit a Japanese imperialist context: “In 1930s Korea, a girl is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress who lives a secluded life on a countryside estate. But the maid has a secret: She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler to help seduce the Lady and steal her fortune" (IMDB).
This sapphic thriller will have you hooked! Stay tuned for more details about the screening :)
